MEENIYAN NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2013

The Meeniyan Golf club and The Stony Creek Football Netball club are combining to hold a Camp Draft at Dumbalk on the weekend of 7thand 8th December. Please put this in your diary, as we will require HELP from all members. Ring Will Bullock or Bill Pratt if you are able to help. Any farmers with cattle available for a run let these two know as well.

TWILIGHT starts on Friday 15th November from 3pm. We have a new chef in Simon Sullivan who will create great meals with a wonderful array of salads. Help  will be needed in the kitchen as well with the book each Friday night, if you or a family member are available please let me know as many hands make a lighter load of work for the few who put their hand up each year. Lets’ all enjoy the twilight season.

MELBOURNE CUP DAY. Tuesday 5th November Sponsored by Paul and Jackie Deering. This day is a three person Ambrose any combination and players do not need a handicap to play. Get your teams organized come and win some wonderful trophies.

Cash Crop Ideas.

At our clubs September meeting it was decided to go ahead with the cash crop idea of raising money for the club going forward. With David’s approval it has been decided to plant a citrus orchard in the area between the 13th tee and the top end of the 18th fairway. To ease the initial cost we are asking you the members to donate the trees that we need to plant. If you are willing to donate a tree please speak with Dave and he can tell you what variety of tree is required for this project.

A donated Walnut tree has been planted at the back of the 12th green with the plan to plant more in this area as they become available.

Please help if you would like to see this venture succeed as we see that there is considerable land available on the course that can be used to raise funds to assist in running our club.

Thank You
